I’m Natalie. I’m from a small town about an hour north of Pittsburgh. I just graduated in June, and in school I participated in French club, Yearbook and Journalism. I love photography, I was gifted my first camera in the 8th grade and haven’t put it down since. I love spending time outside, camping, kayaking and hiking. Making a reading list is a great idea! I was planning on bringing the book “The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down” by Haemin Sunim. It’s a book written by a monk filled with essays and little meditations.
I wanted to take a year off after high school because I found school to be really draining. Traveling has always been something that I found refreshing and gave me a boost of enthusiasm for day-to-day life back home. I thought Nepal seemed like a great fit because it was a lot different than the other gap year programs I found online and it seemed a lot more involved with the local community, which is cool. After Nepal I am going to be doing a 2 month internship teaching English in Dublin to refugees.
I am so excited to meet you all, and I hope everyone is having a great last few weeks of summer!
