My names Lucas Lépinard, I just graduated highschool in San Francisco, California. I’m super stoked to start the Nepal semester, get hiking, and meet you all!

Next year I will be attending Middlebury college in Vermont and I was fortunate enough to be accepted into their half gap year program, giving me the opportunity to take this course. I wanted to take this time off as an opportunity to travel and expose myself to different cultures, environments, and ideologies. I’ve done a fair amount of backpacking in the past but nothing like comparable to the Himalayas. I was particularly drawn to the religious aspect of this trip as a means of reflection and hope to develop my understanding through an authentic introduction to Buddhism. Otherwise I’m looking forward to exploring an unfamiliar country and taking advantage of the home stays to spark up some hopefully valuable conversations.

Right now I’m traveling alone in Sri Lanka, mostly surfing on the east coast, and will join the course directly from there.

I’m can’t wait for the course to begin and look forward to meeting everyone!
