Hello,
My name is Mahler. I’m from Norwich, Vermont and I’ve lived there all my life. I’ve traveled to many places including Mexico, France, St. Lucia and this summer I was in Denmark visiting a friend. I decided to take a gap year because I needed a break from sitting in a classroom. I enjoy learning don’t get me wrong, but I was sick of the daily grind. There wasn’t a lot of excitement or first hand learning from my perspective. I actually didn’t decide I wanted to take a year off until mid-winter but I’m so glad I made that decision. I’m looking forward to our homestays. I am excited to be a part of a completely different culture and get to witness it on a very intimate level. I’m also excited for the trekking. Hiking and backpacking are some of my favorite hobbies. I grew up hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and can’t wait to be hiking in the Himalayas and trekking next to the Mekong. Along with hiking, I play soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse and I snowboard in the winter when I don’t have hockey.
