Hi everyone! I am getting so excited to begin this adventure with all of you! I find it a lot easier to get to know people in person, but until that can happen my name is Marissa Michaels and I live in Hightstown, New Jersey (about 25 minutes from Princeton). I have lived in New Jersey my entire life with my parents and my two older brothers. Luckily for me we have always been a short drive from New York City and Broadway. I always loved seeing shows and I started acting and singing in high school. In a way I had a unique high school experience because I went to a private boarding school where my father was my teacher (I was referred to as a facBrat). He was my orchestra teacher where I played clarinet. Outside of the arts I really enjoyed history in English in high school. While other people complain about analytical essays, I look forward to writing them so that I can better understand my own thoughts on a subject. With that being said, since I really enjoyed high school I’m curious to see what a year away from school will be like for me.

I think the prospect of Bridge Year appealed to me because it’s such an adventure. It is something completely different from anything I’ve done and I can’t wait to challenge myself in pretty much every way. I’m really looking forward to being a part of a different community, one in which I have yet to figure out my place. I’m most excited to talk to people and learn about them and Indonesia. See you all soon!
