Elly, I’m very glad you were bold and paved us a little path. My name is Olivia Pruett and I’m from a small college town in Western Massachusetts. I’m going to be a “feb” at Middlebury College come this spring semester, so this will just be a gap semester for me. I knew I wanted to explore internationally before college and I loved the idea of entering school in the Freezing North apropos of its namesake. Besides cold weather and most activities that come with it, I may have been a fish (specifically a cuttlefish) in my past life and enjoy diving, swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and all other water-related activities. Deep sea mountains are cool too, but I prefer the ones above sea level. Standing at a peak and feeling like you’re part of the wind is a one-of-a-kind feeling. I’m always up for existential where-even-are-we conversations and just talking in general, but always with a little snack, preferably something sweet. My go-to sport is soccer, but I have a special place in my heart for Ultimate Frisbee as well.
I took Chinese in middle school, but not again until I was an upperclassman in High School. I can tell you where the bathroom is, maybe. I’m really looking forward to falling headfirst into Chinese language and culture and new friendships.
See you all soon~
