Arrival in Bangkok

Dragons,

In just a few days, you will meet together in LA to fly to Thailand! Comfortable Cathay Pacific flights will carry you to Hong Kong, where during your layover you can watch the sun rise on the islands, hills, waters, and skyscrapers of one of the world’s most bustling cities. Your next flight will bring you to us, your excited instructors, who await your landing in equally bustling Bangkok!

Upon arrival in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), you will be ushered through immigration. Be sure you have the immigration cards passed out by the flight attendants on your last airplane. With American passports, you will get a free 30-day stamp into Thailand, which should be easy and straightforward. Collect your checked bags and pass through customs with Nothing to Declare.

When you reach the arrivals area outside security, you should be on the 2nd floor. As a group, proceed to the 1st floor, where you can access public ground transportation. We will be there waiting for you! Look for us near Door 7 in our Dragons tshirts. We’ll be stretching our necks for our first glimpses of our new traveling family!

If you need to reach us by phone, contact Parker’s Thai number at +66 96-740-7632 for international calls, or 096-740-7632 if calling from a Thai phone.

We’ll spend the first three days together in Bangkok to adjust to the time change, finalize our Myanmar visa applications, and begin stepping out into the sights, smells, and sounds of Southeast Asia. We will visit some of the most famous wats (temples) in the entire country and explore the waterways, parks, markets, and foods of metropolitan Thailand. We’ll begin our process of coming together as a group, getting to know one another and learning how we work as a unit. We will expore cultural differences, practice health and safety in a foreign land, and navigate a city with a rhythm all its own. Once we get our visas returned, we’ll head to Myanmar!

On September 20, we will wake early to head to Don Mueang airport, wave farewell to Thailand from the air, and land by lunchtime in the Golden Land. All of Myanmar awaits!

We are so excited to meet you all and begin our adventures together. Thank you for posting your introductions and questions here.If you have any more questions before we are together, feel free to post them. We’ll respond as soon as possible.

Until very, very soon,

Nikki, Siang, and Parker
