First Assignment

My connection to Peru is through the Peruvian rugs my houses.  After I did some research, I learned that the women who started the rug company (Art Andes) in Stillwater, MN (my hometown), partnered with a man in Peru to create rugs that would be durable and create a source of income for talented weavers in the Andes.  Additionally, they wanted to maintain the traditional techniques and patterns in the new rugs, so each one is unique.

My definition of home is what many people have said already but it is a feeling and the people not necessarily a place.  This summer, I spent almost the entire time sleeping in a tent with some great friends and that felt a whole lot more like home than sleeping in my room at home alone.  I think over the next three months I will be able to figure out more specifically or maybe more broadly what home means to me.

See you in Miami!
