Trek View on Nepal: Himalayan Studies Gap Year Semester with Where There Be Dragons

Hello everyone! My name is Griffin. I’m really looking forward to meeting all of you in just a few short days. I spent the first half of my life in Los Angeles and the other half in Portland, Oregon. I gradated from high school last June with a class of peers who all knew exactly where they wanted to go for college and what they would be majoring in. I, on the other hand, had no idea where I would be going or what I wanted to do. So I decided to take a gap year.  I love to travel. A lot of my free time this summer was spent wandering Oregon meeting different people.  I’ve had a few short trips out of country. A couple weeks in Costa Rica, a month home stay in Panama. Every trip has left me a little disappointed in that I wasn’t really out of my comfort zone. It was always suburbs, in a somewhat familiar culture, with a few people I knew. I think that is what has drawn me to this program. The complete unknown. It’s exciting and nerve racking. Something completely new with completely new people!

See you all soon.
