Hello everyone! I am Jacquelyn Davila, big sister to three rambunctious siblings, amateur (but eager) photographer, and self-proclaimed bookworm. I was born in Salinas, California and lived in Cocula, Jalisco, Mexico (“The Cradle of Mariachi”) for some time. I have called the capital of California home for a decade. Growing up in Sacramento’s public libraries and parks, I developed a passion for books, community service, and environmental science. Interacting with classmates from myriad backgrounds and cultures sparked my interest in traveling and international affairs. My fascination with India, in particular, began with my Sikh neighbor, who welcomed me into her home and introduced me to roti bread, Bollywood, and her extensive jewelry collection.
I want to learn more about the world and myself, and even though my love for reading helps, I know that being a part of Bridge Year will help me even more. I am beyond grateful and excited to have the opportunity to engage in nine months of language learning, service, and cultural immersion. NAMASTE, INDIA!
