Re: Shared Reading and Kathmandu Equipment Purchases

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your question and for taking the initiative on starting a book list!

Reading:

We love the book list idea! The books that you mentioned are great choices, and I would also recommend Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha, which is very relevant to our course. We have a modest library here in our program house that you’ll be welcome to borrow from in addition to the books that you bring with you. Feel free to coordinate with others about the book list on the Yak board, or we can do it in Nepal once we see all the books that everyone has brought.

Kathmandu Equipment Purchases:

To clarify, we would recommend making your major gear purchases at home – clothing, sleeping bag, etc. If something is lost or forgotten we can replace it here, but it would be better to come fully prepared. If you need smaller, incidental things, like a sleeping bag liner or electrical adapter, they can be found here but the quality won’t necessarily match what’s available in the US.

Don’t hesitate to post any other questions, and see you soon!
