Dear friends and families,
We have been in touch with the instructor team over these past days, and the group is enjoying their trek in the stunning Cordillera Real mountain range. Yesterday they arrived to Laguna Chilata, an alpine lake that offers panoramic views of the range. Early this morning, half of the group made the challenging journey up to Laguna Glaciar, a glacier and lake situated at 16,500 feet (5,030 meters) above sea level. The rest of the students opted to take a rest day at Laguna Chilata to read, journal, and explore the area. Tomorrow the group will make their way back to Sorata.
The group is in good health and spirits, and enjoying this first adventure in the Andes mountains! The students will be posting updates in the next couple of days as they transition to El Alto, where they will participate in a week-long homestay.
