Dear Friends and Family,

Below you will find our updated September itinerary:

September 11 – September 20: Group arrives in Munsiyari to work with the NGO Himalayan Ark and learn about rural livelihood, gender issues, community forest management, farming, and other aspects of life in the mountains. Students will be staying in homestays during this time.

September 23-October 4: Group will spend time in Ranikhet at the Center for the Contemplation of Nature
***From September 24-28 we will take a walk from village to village, camping in the evenings. As we walk, we’ll discuss forest ecology, culture, and religious practices, among other topics. For the last week or so of our stay, students will take intensive Hindi courses in the morning with a teacher from Delhi. In the afternoon and evenings, we’ll discuss development, sociology, agriculture and try our hand at some farming and an earth oven for cooking!

October 4: Transfer to Delhi, overnight in the city.

October 5: Overnight train to Varanasi, where we’ll settle into our long-term homestays and match with our service sites!
