Last Saturday when we were in La Paz, we were tasked with the the job of finding the American Embassy. After leaving Compa, we walked to the teleférico and got on the yellow line. When we got off, we walked in the wrong direction, then eventually walked in the right direction after receiving help from a local. We then got on a Trufi headed towards the plaza de estudiantes. We found Brian in front of Iglesia de San Francisco and began our task.
After learning that the Mercado Lanza was closed for cleaning, Itzá and Raquel directed us to Api Happy, a Bolivian fast food chain. It was not delicioso, but was quite interesante. We had dehydrated fried llama meat and fried queso fresco accompanied by three unidentifiable liquids.
In the afternoon we went back to the Iglesia San Francisco and took a tour. The tour was supposed to be in English, but we insisted on Spanish and as a result made a new friend. Luckily we didn’t ring the bells because they fine you 1000 US dollars if you do.
To complete our task, we walked a mile to the US embassy and figured out how to get back to the teleférico (without getting lost this time).
