Today I was a kid again. My eight year old homestay sister brought me to a long bridge over a beautiful river. She grabbed my hand and ran across with pure joy. Then she took me to a large pile of hay and we did dozens of somersaults through it. Today I was brought to that kind of joy that I haven’t felt in a while. Completely innocent joy. Joy from the animals like the little chick dropped in my hand this morning or the little buffalo who stared at me with its big eyes and touched his cold black nose to mine. Also joy from the landscape. The sun illuminates the flowing hills of Chokati and for at least a few minutes I feel the whole world is at peace. Dirt covered and hay filled hair makes me feel like a child again.
