Hola Students !
I’m Erick and I am going to be one of your instructors along with Zack, Raquel and Sandy on this incredible journey to Peru and Bolivia. I worked with Zack the Fall Semester 2014 in Central America and feel lucky to work with Sandy and Raquel for first time. All three have previously led courses in Peru and Bolivia. I’m happy to have the opportunity to lead this journey with a pretty international team of friends.
I’m from Guatemala, Central America and I have been leading courses with Dragons since 2013 in my country and region. This will be the first course I have led in the Andes and Amazon and I’m totally amazed, happy and curious about Peru and Bolivia. I can’t express in words all that the Andes and Amazon are making me think and feel during these weeks before the course starts. I want to explore with all of you how the people and the cultures see life, how they understand food, how they read the sky, how they talk with the mountains, how they walk those mountains. What a great opportunity in this life we have to connect, share and learn with the other 15 travelers, every one of you, and with the people in the local communities- teachers, farmers, artists, spiritual guides, homestay families and new friends- along the way. All while getting to know ourselves in a new atmosphere, with a different language, a different way to communicate and different lifestyle which could be challenging sometimes, but is all part of the experience of living, learning and enjoying the journey in those territories of South America.
We will share all the information you will need for this course- packing list, interesting readings, videos and other valuable information for this trip here on the Yak Board so we can all start preparing for this trip. Stay tuned!
I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you soon in February! If you have any questions about the course please don’t hesitate to connect with me through my personal email: [email protected] or with any of the other instructors as well. I hope you have a great holiday with your families, as we will have here in Guatemala, eating tamales and drinking hot chocolate.
Hasta pronto !!!
