Hi this is Marguerite Trost- where to begin? I’m a sister and a student. I am in love with motion. I mean that literally, as an athlete, my first athletic love being running and my second rowing. But also, to me, to be in motion intellectually, spiritually, and/or physically is to be thriving. I’m happiest when on a create-your-own adventure, preferably something crazy and not necessarily mainstream.
I like my independence, but at the same time, I feel that that comes from interconnections and continuities, on a biological level and a social level, and that’s what I want to explore in my life. I’m a total biology geek, with a particular interest in botany, and my dream jobs would be field scientist, park ranger-naturalist, and/or National Geographic explorer. Being outdoors, connected with and seeing connections in nature, makes us alive.
I’m not an extrovert and I struggle with externalizing things. My only concern on this trip is the dependence on a large group. But I’m passionate about the power of listening, deep and clear, to the rivers of story and connectivity rooting our humanity and our earth together. I’m hopeful that we will all be listening.
So my goals for this trip would be listening and staying in motion. And also having perspective. My definition of toughness is perspective, realizing the relativity of pain and beauty. At the very least, you must have the perspective that your perspective can always be changed. That’s my outlook on starting this adventure.
