Dear students a big hello to you!
Warm greetings from the Himalayas.
Congratulations on taking the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful, motivating and empowering experience with Dragons.
My name is Sharon Sitling and I will be your Course Director for your semester program in Nepal. I will be working along with two other instructors who are exceptionally capable and gifted leaders. We are very lucky to have them aboard our team on this course. We are excited about the program and much more that you will be joining us here on this journey. I believe this will be one of the best decisions that you have ever made.
My journey with Dragons has been filled with lots of exploration and discovery for students and myself alike. This will be my fourth full course with Dragons and as much as I love traveling, I am excited to have this opportunity to share about this region, the people and the rich culture of this place with you.
I was born and raised in India in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. After college I moved to the U.S and lived there for a while. I was blessed to have the opportunity to get to see and experience two different cultures and to learn to appreciate it. Whenever I can I try to take the best of both worlds and cultivate it in my daily life.
Presently, I am balancing life between being a Dragon’s instructor and taking time off to be with family and friends to work together with them towards developing a fully sustainable organic farm in a place called Sittong, my native maternal place.
I had taken last fall off from work and it was time well spent with close ones and the earth. I got to be a part of our annual harvest and enjoyed it thoroughly. Refreshed and rejuvenated I am excited to be a part of this semester course. As each course I have worked has been a unique experience.
I am very excited to get this opportunity to meet you all, to share and learn from each one of you. The instructor team has been working relentlessly together with our Program Directors Shannon Harriman, Claire Bennet and the Dragons office in Boulder to ensure this semester is safe, educational, motivating, and an empowering experience for you all.
My goals this spring is to ensure safety, to assist each one of you on your path to gain a better sense of understanding of yourselves, the environment you will be in and the people you will be interacting with. Keeping in mind to do all of these while having fun! I hope through your time spent here you will come to learn more about yourselves and about this beautiful country that has a wealth of wisdom and beauty to offer.
I highly encourage you to read former dragon students Yak postings. These can give you an insight into what your experience will feel like. I would also like to request you to carve out some time to write and post your introductions, as we would love to know more about you.
As we get closer to our departure, if you have any questions, ideas, or comments please feel free to email me anytime at [email protected]
