Hi everyone!

My name is Maya Parr and I could not be more excited to start this journey with you all. I was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and this trip will be my first time ever leaving the country, so to say that I am full of anticipation/nerves/excitement/curiosity/gratitude cannot be overstated.

I have grown up with the mountains as my backyard, so hiking, camping, backpacking, etc. are all things that I was looking for in my first trip around the world. I graduated from high school in May of 2017, and have spent the past 8 months working as a nanny and server to save up money for college and this trip. I will be starting college at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington, but before I left for another four years of school I wanted tot take some time and get an eduction involving a totally new culture and part of the world.

I played soccer in high school, and love spending time with passionate, adventurous people, music, road trips, and anything to do with mountains. I have also become an avid yogi this past year and look forward to exploring my spirituality and learning about Buddhism and other religions in the coming semester.

I love my dog, I love my family, and I love meeting new people. I think that the best way to get to know yourself is to step out of your comfort zone and see what parts of you grow, and to really understand what you are capable of. I look forward to meeting you all and cannot wait for this adventure to begin!!

See you in New York,

Maya
