After roughly a day and a half of arduous travel that included 3 flights, 2 trains, and a grand taxi, we have finally made it to our first stop in Morocco. That being the Islamic-recognized holy town of Moulay Idriss. Found at the base of Mt. Zerhoun, the town has a certain quintessential beauty of the middle-east. With rolling green hills, desert cliffs, and a village filled to the brim with life and personality. We’ve begun learning the basics of the Arabic language, as well as the cultural norms that are present in Morocco, in an effort to prepare for our homestays. While they will no doubt be a challenge, the group as a whole already seems to have grown more comfortable with the idea. I personally can not wait for the experiences that wait ahead of me, and I’m sure I’ll never forget them either.
