Hi family and friends,
Just a quick note to let you know that the India group is well settled in at their orientation site in the Himalayan foothills in the state of Uttarakhand. I have been in touch with the instructors, who let me know that the group had a nice 5 hour train ride up to the start of the hills, then a two hour car ride to get to their orientation site, and the whole group is in high spirits and getting enough rest to get over their jet lag. They have since been settling in with abundant and delicious food, learning how to play cricket, and visiting a local temple. The weather is rainy and cool, but local lore says that rains at this time signify the end of winter weather. On the 14th the group will head toward Varanasi, where they will begin their longest stretch of the course in their urban homestays, with Hindi classes, independent study projects, and lots of exploration and learning.
More news to come when the group reaches Varanasi!
