Trek View on Nepal: Himalayan Studies Gap Year Semester with Where There Be Dragons

Hi everyone! My name is Emilia Diaz-Magaloni and I’m from Palo Alto, California. I’m so excited to finally meet everyone and start this amazing adventure together.

I am 19 years old and I also decided to defer from college to take a gap year. Taking a gap year was something I always knew I wanted to do, I feel like it’s an amazing way to explore the world and yourself before starting college. Another factor that made me want to take a gap year is my love for travel. My parents are both professors and their work is mainly focused in Latin America, so I grew up accompanying them on their field work to places such as Guatemala and Brazil. My family is from Mexico, and I am lucky to have grown up traveling there often, so I have a strong connection to my Mexican culture and family. Over the past months, I’ve been traveling in Japan, Germany and Italy as well as spending some time at home volunteering and taking classes. So far my gap year has been an incredibly rewarding experience and I can’t wait to see what these three months have in store!

I love yoga and meditation and am so excited to learn more about spirtuality and Buddhism while in Nepal. I also love spending time in nature, reading and writing.

so excited to meet you all!
