After our brief stay at Hasera permaculture farm, where we were introduced to food systems and sustainable practices of agriculture we travelled down to Patan on 02/17/2018. Patan, a separate kingdom in the past, today is a flourishing city within the city of Kathmandu and lies on the southern fringes of the valley seperated by the Bagmati river. The city is home to a number of artisans who through generations of following the same trade have managed to keep alive the art and heritage of the city. Also know as the city of fine arts the entire city’s architecture is dedicated to the Buddhist Dharma Chakra(Wheel of righteousness). In the midst of brick cobbled lanes, ancient pagoda structures, watering holes that have slowly turned to archeological sites and tangible historical stories, one is transported to a time when monarchs walked these city streets in fanfare. In this beautiful city we are slowly settling down in our homestays and have started our Independent Study Projects. We are getting accustomed to the pace of the city, meandering through busy crowded streets to reach the Dragons program house every morning, gradually pronouncing nepali syllables, eating with our hands and exploring squares and courtyards with amazing architecture. We will be here in the city for the next three weeks after which we will transition to our next location called Boudha. We will keep you all posted on the adventures of Him A- mazing as we traverse through the Himalayas exploring and learning as we progress.
Team Him – Amazing!!
