Transitioning from Orientation, through mini-Trek and into Urban Homestays

A little over a week ago we were strangers. Now, as we arrive into Kathmandu and prepare to head into our month-long urban home-stays, we officially close the orientation phase of the course. We have learnt so much about each other and about ourselves already, through group activities, profound conversations and over the course of a 3 day mini trek around the rim of the Kathmandu Valley.

We’ve learnt about Nepali culture, learnt Nepali language (and had opportunities to practise during our trek), explored ancient cities (see Bhaktapur in the photograph) and already eaten numerous meals with our hands. Most importantly, we have connected with each other on many levels and feel prepared and excited for the next phase of the course in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city.
