This weekend our group had the good fortune of attending the wedding of one of Saurabh’s relatives. Students had the opportunity to dress up and join the groom’s wedding procession, which was full of music, dancing, and general merriment. The wedding ended at a beautiful venue adorned with flowers and lights. The group ate lots of freshly prepared food, drank saffron milk, and practiced our newly learned Hindi words. Towards the end of the evening we were able to give our best wishes to the bride and groom, who are pictured here. It was quite the celebration to begin our first full weekend in Banaras and we are grateful to Saurabh’s family for including us in such a joyous, memorable event.
