Instructor Into: Hilary LeBlanc

Hello from the Dragons Office!

My name is Hilary, and along with Vincent and Sharon, I will be one of your instructors this summer in India. This is my second summer instructing our Eastern Himalayas program, and my third summer working for Dragons. I currently work in the Admissions Department at the Dragons office in Boulder, and instruct summer courses in the field.

Previous to Dragons, I worked for 4 years at the High Trails Outdoor Education Center in Florissant, Colorado. I spent my winters as a ski instructor and coach in Crested Butte, Colorado, and led self supported bike touring trips in the US and Europe for a company called Overland Summers. Dragons combines what I love most about all of these experiences and I feel so lucky to have found my way into a community of such interesting, kind, and passionate individuals.

The regions of India we will be traveling to are incredibly unique and beautiful and I am looking forward to sharing these experiences with all of you. Dragons Courses are not always easy.  You will feel challenged. There will be tough moments where you may doubt your decision to join us, but I think that is part of what makes Dragons so incredible. There are equal moments of awe, inspiration, and laughter, where you realize you made the right choice and there is nowhere you would rather be. The best part is that we get to experience all of these highs, lows and moments of learning and growth together.

Outside of Dragons I enjoy spending time with friends, mountain biking, skiing, and climbing around Colorado. I will be around and available over the remainder of the spring and happy to be in touch! Feel free to shoot me an email or call the office with any questions that you might have. My email address is [email protected]

* This photo was taken last summer during our rural homestay in Sitong. July is not quite passionfruit season, but given that passionfruit is my favorite fruit, I was not about to give up that easily. I spent a better part of an afternoon using a long stick to knock the one semi ripe passionfruit I could find out of a very high branch. Maybe this summer we will have better luck!
