Hello hello wonderful students!
I am writing to you as I sit drinking a delicious cup of tea, eating two kinds of biscuits (yes, you will come around to calling them biscuits) and day dreaming of spending 4 weeks with you all in my favourite place in the world.
It was easy for the brown and purple mountains of Ladakh to quickly become my home away from home. In 2013, when I was trying very hard to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I ended up going to SECMOL in Ladakh. Instead of spending the planned month on campus, I ended up staying an entire year. We are SO LUCKY to be able to spend some time on this most special campus, full of inspiring young people and ideas this July. SECMOL changed my life and I hope it plays a little part in changing yours.
I grew up in very different mountains, they were greener and lower and perhaps they were actually hills. 🙂 I spent 9 years of my life in the beautiful hill station of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu in southern India at a boarding school. I then spent four years in New York doing a degree in liberal arts, while also taking 6 months to live and study in Germany. I did all sorts of things after this, like, work in advertising, write for a magazine, work on a farm and get a Master’s in International Education Policy. I was then thrilled to find my way to Dragons. I just finished instructing my second semester for Dragons and I am so happy, so excited to have the opportunity to spend a summer with you in Ladakh. As Christy mentioned in her introduction, her, Aditya and I are already in the planning stages of our course and we hope you’re looking forward to this summer as much as we are.
Even though I’ve spent almost all my years in this beautiful and complex country, there are so many things I don’t know, so many things I am curious about and I can’t wait to explore and learn with you all so soon!
Please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any questions!
