My name is Hunter King, I am 17 years old, and I’m from Bend, Oregon. I just finished my junior year at Cate School, a boarding school in Carpinteria, California. At school, I spend most of my time studying, but when I’m not studying I spend a lot of my time in the ceramics studio or in the theater where I work tech for school productions. I love talking about movies and TV (if you’re a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender I suspect we’ll get along really well), and I play a lot of games of all types–anything from ping pong to Settlers of Catan, I’m game.
There were a lot of things that drew me to the Dragons program, but more than anything I think I felt the need to get away–as far away as possible–from everything. Not that I don’t like my life, but everything these days seems to revolve around college and school and grades, and I wanted to take time to breathe and explore. Out of all the programs, I think I chose Nepal because of how colorful it is, and the more I looked into the course the more excited I got about the possibility of going. I think I’m most excited for the independent study projects; I’m really hoping I can discover some awesome Nepalese ceramics.
I can’t wait to meet you all in a few weeks!
