Reflections on Kedungmiri

As I sip on my kombucha at our post-homestay retreat Bumi Langit, I cannot help but feel thankful and incredibly lucky for the last two days. Being in Kedungmiri made me feel so connected to not only bahasa Indonesian (language) but also the orang (people) and the adat (culture). My host sister and I spent every morning either on a sepeda (bike/cycling) or jalan-jalan (walking). Having the opportunity to connect in a more authentic way was really special for me, and helped me to think differently about my school’s homestays. I am sad to leave Kedungmiri, but am excited to continue the course in Sampela!
