A letter to my homestay family

Today we left the wonderful homestay families who have been generously hosting us for the last six days. On our final day, we all wrote notes for our families to let them know what they have meant to us. Here’s what we said:

Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home. You made me feel like a member of the family. I loved all the meals and watching rainstorms together. I will miss you all, and thank you for this wonderful experience.
Love, Sothea (Saoirse)

Hi Family,
It’s Lekhena. These past few days went by so quickly! You welcomed me into your beautiful home and amazing family. I will forever be grateful of your love. I cannot be thankful enough of the food, the laughs, and the songs we shared. Thank you so much, and I love you all.
Thank you,
Lekhena (Alice)

Dear Family,
Thank you for having me in your house. You cook great food and I love spending time with the family. I’ll definitely miss these times when I go back.
Jho (Jack)

Thank you so much for being such a wonderful family to me this past week. You were so kind and understanding when I was sick and always made me feel comfortable in your home and in your family. I appreciate your hospitality so much and I will never forget you. Thank you.
Kamerun (Kylie)

Dear Family,
Thank you so much for hosting me in your home these past few days. You all have given me so much love and care. I will miss you all so much, especially my little sisters and brothers. I had an amazing experience and I’m so grateful that you chose to extend your home to a complete stranger. I love you all.
P.S. I am from a country called Turkey and the gift I will give you is very significant to my culture. It protects you from evil! Make sure to put it in an entrance.
Nina (Nuon)
