SECMOL, or students educational and cultural movement of Ladahk is set beautifully in a valley of tall barren mountains on the side of the Indus River. The school is run very efficiently by students and is only helped by a few volunteers and teachers. The school is mainly run on solar power and re-usable energy including solar stills for water and man-made irrigation systems for plant livelihood. My favorite part about my experience at SECMOL so far was building a small irrigation system to water the plants during “work hour” with a fellow dragon, Jacob. We will stay a couple more days in SECMOL and I hope to dig my irrigation trenches.
