*Note given to my homestay sister*
Thank you. Though at first I did not recognize all that you do, I now appreciate your kindness and hospitality. I wish I could have done more to show my appreciation, whether that be cooking more meals or washing more dishes. But alas, my time here is up and my sincerest “thank you” is all that I can say. As a reminder of my gratitude, I give you this necklace with the shape of my home state in America. Let this remind you that your kindness can reach anyone, even me, halfway around the world. The Buddha said that all things are impermanent, but I find it hard to believe that my gratitude will be anything but eternal.
