Today is our last full day in San Juan La Laguna. We have spent the week taking Spanish lessons in small groups at a beautiful school right on the edge of the lake, and working on our ISPs. We chose a variety of subjects to learning about, including coffee, textiles and Mayan Cosmovision. My project was on textiles, and the wonderful women of Lema (a local textiles store) helped teach me about the process of making textiles as well as making a scarf. After spending so much time with these amazing women, I have an incredible amount of respect for the work that they do. Making the scarf was demanding both physically and mentally, and I have learned to appreciate the effort put into handmade works. Tonight we will be having a group dinner to say goodbye and thank you to the amazing people here, and to celebrate the time we have spent together. It will be hard to go, but we are excited to move on to the next phase of our journey.
