Today after we walked through the scorching hot streets of Goulmima, we waited at a taxi stand and were pleasantly surprised when we reached our destination. We arrived at a small building that was a women’s center located in the heart of Goulmima and the administrators welcomed us with kuskarut and tea. This is an association that helps girls who have to drop out of middle school for various reasons. They offer many activities and classes for women, students and the community at large, such as sewing traditional embroidery and agricultural skills. We were able to see the women in action hand stitching very beautiful Moroccan clothing for everyday life and special occasions like weddings. We got the opportunity to purchase some very well done bags and clothing and to see these women in their daily lives and experience the culture in the rawest form.
