Hi, guys!

My name is Sophie and I can’t wait to meet you all soon!

I’m 17, and I’m from right outside Philadelphia, PA. I graduated high school this past spring (finally!) and I am thrilled to be done with school and on to more stimulating endeavors. Looking through some past intros, I see a lot of people are already very outdoorsy; the fact that I’ve only recently had the occasion to buy my first pair of sunglasses just goes to show how much I get out 😉 So no mountaintop pictures for me as of now, but I’m sure I’ll have some by December! The picture above is of my friends and me dressed up for Mean Girls night at the local movie theater where we work. (I’m the one on the right who refused to smile).

Besides watching movies, I like playing piano, baking, and doing crosswords. I’m really interested in philosophy and foreign languages, and I’d like to learn more about linguistics. I wanted to take a gap year to explore another part of the world and gain some much-needed perspective on my life before deciding what to do next. I chose this program because, well, Nepal seems like a fascinating and beautiful country, and I think this trip will have enough challenges in store to kick me out of my comfort zone.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you all soon, and being a part of what I’m sure will be a fantastic Group C!
