Remembering our trip through song

Dragons Thailand Trip
Sung to the tune of Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus*

I hopped off the plane at CHX
With a need for deodorant
Welcome to the land of elephants,
Am I gonna see one?

Jumped in the song thaew,
For the very first time
No back door, in the US that would be a crime
This is all so crazy
Everybody says Sa-wa-dee

My tummy’s turnin’ so I head for the potty
I look in and I see it is a squatty,
That’s when I learned about the PENX scale
And my business is a 3
And my business is a 6
And my business is a 5

So I take my shoes off
And walk inside,
To greet my host family
Bowin’ my head like, yeah
Doin’ the wai like, yeah
Sittin’ cross-legged
for dinner on the floor,
My right foot is asleep
Yeah, it’s a Dragons Thailand trip
Yeah, it’s a cultural exchange

Stop at the stand on the side of the road
The menu’s all in Thai
What’s good here to eat for lunch?
We’d better ask Jess & Gai

So hard when I’m trying not to overeat
‘Cause mango sticky rice is my favorite treat
Papaya salad was too spicy
Better get another Thai tea

Lace up my shoes so I’m headed for the next trek
Bring your water and your bug spray
Five minutes in and I sweat it off
But I’ll shower after lunch
And I’ll shower after dinner
And I’ll shower in the morning

So I take my shoes off
And walk inside,
To greet my host family
Bowin’ my head like, yeah
Doin’ the wai like, yeah
Sittin’ cross-legged
for dinner on the floor,
My left foot’s now asleep
Yeah, it’s a Dragons Thailand trip
Yeah, it’s a cultural exchange

Feel like jottin’ down some lines (Down some lines)
So I get translations right (Translations right)
Students ask me all the time (All the time)
I taught myself English but I am Thai

So I take my shoes off
And walk inside,
To greet my host family
Bowin’ my head like, yeah
Doin’ the wai like, yeah
Sittin’ cross-legged
for dinner on the floor,
Now both feet are asleep
Yeah, it’s a Dragons Thailand trip
Yeah, it’s a cultural exchange
