At home I finish sentences with eh,
I start my days with Timmy’s steeped tea,
The freezing water of lake Ontario crashes against the rocky shore of my backyard,
Pine and maple trees are everywhere,
And I end my days with CBC news or Hockey Night in Canada.
Here in Phyang I finish sentences with lay,
I start my days with butter tea,
The water is still arctic cold but scarce,
I am just below the tree line beyond which there are no trees,
And I end my days with a nearby monastery’s chants.
