Dear Mekong Students and Families,
As you have likely already seen from the email sent out earlier today, we were able to successfully source new one-way tickets on a different airline which will avoid Hong Kong, and hopefully the travel havoc anticipated from Super Typhoon Mangkhut. Incredibly, our new flights depart from LAX at virtually the same time as the original Cathay Pacific tickets meaning that there should be no disruption to students’ domestic travel to LAX nor the planned start of the program. We have gone ahead and purchased these new one-way tickets for all students on the original group flight.
For now, the Mekong group will be flying on China Eastern Airlines via Shanghai, China. Flight details listed below. To keep things simple, the meet up time and location at LAX will remain the same as before: Please plan to meet up with your group at the Cathay Pacific Ticketing Counter in the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX Airport by 7:30pm on Saturday, September 15th, 2018. Your Student Travel Leader, Noah Glickman, and a Dragons Representatives, Petal Niles & Josh Scall, are aware of your connecting travel plans and will be wearing Dragons T-Shirts, awaiting your arrival!
NEW Departing Flight Information – Mekong Group
China Eastern Airlines (MU) Flight #578
China Eastern Airlines (MU) Flight #5505
The new flight departs within 30 minutes of the original Cathay Pacific ticket and is scheduled to arrive to Kunming about an hour later as well. Most importantly, Shanghai is not considered to be under threat from typhoon Mangkhut.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Dragons office directly by phone or by email. We are here to assist with all travel day needs!
