When the children see a “toubab” with a camera, they will flock to you. I have had people offer to pay me for a photo of them, just to view on the camera. Of course, they all want to use the camera and it’s hard to say no until one of the kids starts to aggressively fling it around. Side note, it is always good to maintain a firm grasp on the camera’s neck strap. Even in my house, the 3 children (ages 4, 9 and 10) consistently ask to use the camera. If they’re lucky, they get it for two minutes which results in several hundred photos of karate poses, hand signs, and whatever is on tv.
It is a great way to bond and communicate with the kids, and hopefully it should come in handy in the future.
