Red Shades Make Lovely Days

Many would find no practical use for $14 “Red Tinted John Lennon Glasses”… and to be honest, at first, neither did I. However I brought them anyway to add some spice to my particularly bland and limited wardrobe. While they provide a total of zero UV protection, I came to find a different purpose for them.

Among the countless lessons I’ve learned throughout this trip so far, one has proven to be a universal truth: Everyone loves red tinted John Lennon glasses. With little Bahasa Indonesia vocabulary, I relied heavily on exaggerated smiles and inflated head nods to communicate with locals. After many failed telepathic conversations, the red tinted John Lennon glasses found their way into my inventory. I would wear a fat smile and offer people I met to try on the flamboyant accessory. Despite Indonesia’s breathtakingly beautiful geography, everyone enjoyed a refreshing switch from the abundance of green to a trippy-red view of Indonesia’s impeccable landscape.

The glasses have equipped the eyes of our hiking guide Romi; Ikbal, the young boy living at the guest house we stayed at in Ketambe; and Zahrul, the man sitting next to me on the plane to Jogja whom I interviewed. Each and every time the glasses strengthen the bond between the temporary fashion model and myself.

It has been an amazingly awakening adventure and it has only just begun. The red tinted John Lennon glasses source just one of the countless new perceptions I’ve gained thus far. I do not know what is in store for us next, but I do know that wherever we go, the red tinted John Lennon glasses will be right beside us.

Hope you all enjoy the pics 🙂

Shout out to my fam for being the goat. Thank you once again for enabling this experience. Love you all!
