Heading out to the mountains

Dear Families and Friends,

In the past two days we have been dealing with a violation of a red rule of a couple of students. For that reason we needed to come back to the city where internet access and the communication with our office allowed us to deal with it in a more productive way. We asked all students to let their parents know about this change of plans.

The main reason to come back as a group was due to the uncertainty that comes after finding out that red rules have been broken in the group and understanding if there are any other red rules that were or are being broken and the need to rebuild trust in the entire group. We also wanted to offer support to any student that felt affected by the red rule violation and this can be difficult in the cold weather of the mountains.

After working through this red rule violation, we feel ready to go back to the mountains with the entire group. We will be heading out tomorrow morning and coming back on Saturday passed midday. Our itinerary had not changed beside the two days that we took to really deal with this situation, which makes us all very happy.

We will be going to a different mountain and seating a base camp, which will allow us to do two days of hiking. Our new destination is the beautiful mountain Condoriri with its lakes at the base. We will be camping next to one of the lakes and using this space to continue to come together as a group.

When red rule violations happen, there can be a fracture in the group and we are working now on rebuilding what we call the course container. This will allow us to come together as a trustful and compassionate group again and move forward with our learnings and activities in the coming parts of the trip.

Thanks so much for all your support for each one of your kids. We know they needed it to really make meaning of this hard experience for the entire group.

We will be uploading some pictures from the trek when we are back,

The instructors.
