Into the mountains

Dear friends and families,

We are on our way to our second trek today. We have been staying in EL Alto for the last week and we have loved every day of this experience. As some of you might know, yesterday we had a goodbye party with our homestay families and friends here. The students put together a shot play to present for all of us. They took theater classes and worked together as a group to create this play.

We were really impressed and happy with the final product. This was one of the activities where we noticed more their work as a group and we are really happy with it.

We will be leaving for the mountains today and will be back on Saturday the 10th. The circuit that we will walk around is called Illampu. Illampu is one of the highest mountains in Bolivia and we will be walking around it. This circuit is beautiful, since we can see the biggest lake in South America, Lake Titicaca.

The students have been taking more ownership of this part of the trip. They organized the food, the tents and groups for different chores. Our group has been practicing all the tools that we have given them on organizing treks.

We wont be able to communicate with you for while we are in the backcountry. We will have Internet and phone access on Saturday and we will be letting you know how our trek went.

Much love for all of you,

The instructors.
