I wrote my greeting in French since that is my first language. I was born and raised in Paris, France, but moved to the United States when I was 7 and have lived in St. Louis ever since then (when you meet me, I’ll sound super American, accent and all…).  I’m a French teacher at a 7th-12th grade private school in St. Louis called John Burroughs (attended by our famous acting alums Jon Hamm & Ellie Kemper) and have been teaching for 23 years. One of the things that I’d like to do with my older students is to travel to a French-speaking destination that is not a Euro-centric country. I want my students to experience firsthand that French is spoken in so many other culturally-rich places outside of France (and actually on 5 different continents!). I would love to take them a voyage to Morocco and Senegal where they could be immersed in the culture and have a rich experience of comparing and contrasting two very different cultures: their foods, music, religions, traditions, etc. This Senegal trip really appealed to me because I have never traveled to Africa and I have ALWAYS wanted to travel to Senegal to experience the culture firsthand and get a lay of the land. And I loved the notion that this trip is more of an “off the beaten path” type of experience; those are always my favorite (which is why I love that it includes a homestay as well).  I am extremely excited about this trip and look very much forward to meeting everyone!
