Hello Everyone!

Hi guys! My name is Sam Hollister and I live just outside Boston, Massachusetts, in Newton, right next to Boston College. I graduated from high school this past May, and I am currently in the middle of a gap year which took me to New Zealand in the fall for a semester-long NOLS course consisting of white-water canoeing, backpacking, and mountaineering. Safe to say, it was a pretty intense experience but immensely rewarding, and one of the many things I took from it was a reestablished love for the outdoors and being way out in the wilderness.

I am a pretty outgoing and enthusiastic person by nature, and tend to be one of the louder people in every group I end up in. This past month I have been living on my own up in Vermont working as a lift attendant at my favorite ski area, Mad River Glen. Living on my own has been a really cool experience, but I am very excited to get back to being part of a group like Dragons. I absolutely love sports, and I played soccer and baseball in high school as well as ski-raced. Naturally being from Boston I am a massive Boston sports fan, so I have been scouring the internet these past few days trying to find the cheapest ticket to the Super Bowl next Sunday in the hopes of driving from Boston to Atlanta to see Tom Brady win his 6th Super Bowl.

I also love music, particularly the Grateful Dead and all things classic rock – Bob Dylan, The Band, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, etc. During these past few months, I have gotten back into reading after taking a high-school long hiatus from it. Currently, my favorite book is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey. I also love to write. I’m very excited to meet all of you and get started with this amazing adventure!
