Future Him B Team, Namaste and Happy New Year,
I am writing to you from an old vintage bus-turned-home in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is summer here and the days are long and filled with light, which has given me time to move my legs through this city and its parks and paths. I am in the Southern Hemisphere for a month before I return back to Nepal for the spring. While it is nice to be exploring a new culture, I am already looking forward to being back in the alleyways of Patan and the chiya shops I have frequented for the past four months.
My name is Anna and I am another third of the I-team for our spring group. I have just come off of working a semester course in Nepal this fall and am feeling invigorated and excited to have the opportunity to return and learn alongside you all.
Dragons has been a part of my life in some capacity for the past ten years. I, like you, took a Gap Year before heading to university, during which time I embarked on a Dragons journey in Southeast Asia. After undergrad I have worked as an instructor for a few different organizations, and in 2014 began working for Dragons in their office in Colorado. Slowly I have transitioned to a more nomadic life and have been working as a full time instructor with Dragons and another hiking-based organization in the States.
I am a firm believer that the body has an amazing capacity to help deepen our experiences in a place. Whether trekking through high mountain villages in the Himalayas, experiencing gastro-intestinal issues in a city, or using your hands to pound silver into shapes, you will find that your body has an incredible ability to bring about learning and understanding. It will help you discover a resilience that perhaps you did not know you had. Part of a Dragons course is experiencing how your body–and mind–can be pushed into new realms.
In just a short month we will all meet together in Kathmandu and I am so looking forward to getting to know each of you personally. We will be connecting with you by phone shortly, but in the meantime if you have questions, please do not hesitate to post them on the Yak board or to email me.
