I’m Morgan, born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and I love adventuring in the many wild places that surround my hometown. I’ve been fortunate to grow up surrounded by people who value strong, tight-knit community, spend lots of time in the outdoors, and make an effort to be conscious of how we affect the environments we live in. I am passionate about being outside, photography, rock climbing, singing and helping others through my work in search and rescue and with the forest service.
I graduated from high school last June, and I’ve spent the first half of my gap year working on the construction crew at my local bouldering gym: building climbing walls, learning how to weld and of course going climbing with my coworkers. While not at the climbing gym I rediscovered my love for reading, led trips for the outdoor program at my middle and high school, and got into the mountains any way I could to backpack, climb, and run.
I am stoked about this Dragons program for many reasons. First of all, I am excited to experience a culture and landscape so different from what I know. I am also really looking forward to having an immersive Spanish experience which I hope will fill an important gap that a spanish education in the classroom just cannot. As you can imagine, all the trekking we will get to do really appeals to me, as does the opportunity to apply my experience navigating Washington’s wild places to learning and practicing a more rugged and “low to the ground” method of travel. And finally I can’t wait to travel in a small group of individuals with whom I can share the excitements, joys and struggles of the adventure we are about to embark on.
Looking forward to meeting and adventuring with you all!
