Independent study projects are an important part of a Dragons course. It’s an opportunity for you to get hands on experience in different crafts or topics that you are passionate about. During our time in urban homestay in Patan (also known as the artistic capital of Nepal) you will get to choose a topic to learn from a pool of expert mentors, some who come from families that have been practicing their art form for centuries!!!
Learning with a mentor will give you a wonderful perspective on how these skills are such an integral part of the life in Patan as they form the cultural backbone of the ancient and modern Patan. As you dive in to the topic you choose with intention and dedication, you will also realize how the process of learning is the biggest prize whilst also being able to learn tangible skills that you will be proud of.
The list of ISPs below is by no means an exhaustive list but it gives you an indication of some of the projects that have been frequently chosen by the students in the past. Once you get to connect with the instructor team, please communicate to us if there’s anything that you feel very passionate about that is not in the list. We will try our absolute best to help arrange that but if not we hope that you will understand our limitations.
Our intention in providing you this list is to just help you start that thought process. Please don’t worry, we will have more thorough discussions on what all these ISPs are when we all meet here in Nepal. Hopefully after strolling through the streets of Dhulikhel and Patan, you will be able to find that which inspires you.
