It is possible that your Mr. Emmot or Ms. Cernigilia have already brought this up with you, so apologies if it is a rehash. I just wanted to take a chance to formally introduce you to Dragons’ policy regarding technology on course. Part of the Dragons experience is a sense of disconnect from your normal reality, and a deep dive into something completely new, often unexpected, and almost always enthralling. We want to encourage you to step outside your comfort zone as much as you can and fully immerse yourself in the experience of a new place and new people.
As such, we ask that you leave your wifi-enabled devices at home. This includes smartphones and iPod touches. We will collect any such gadgets at the start of our trip and hold on to them. We will be careful with them but at the end of the day Dragons is not liable for any damages, so it may be best to leave them at home. If at all possible, please find an alternative to relying on your phone as your camera. If a phone is your only option camera, please let one of us know and we can touch base about expectations.
On the trip, we will be posting on the Yak Board almost daily so your folks at home can stay up-to-date with your happenings. Both Elley and I will have smart phones with data plans in case of emergency. We will also be carrying a program iPad to use for certain aspects of the course. We know this is a big ask, but we feel strongly that this is the best way to engage more fully with everyone and everything around you while building your self-reliance. Thanks for your understanding,
Looking forward to meeting you all very soon 🙂
James & Elley
PS: Keep those introductions coming!
