Hello friends and family of participants on the Senegal: Music & Mysticism program!
We wanted to let you know that our very small group consisting of three curious travelers arrived in Senegal yesterday and have embarked upon their first full day in country today.
The first image is of the group consisting of our three participants, two Dragons instructors and two Senegalese educators who are supporting the team. In West Africa we typically travel with as many friends of “Dragons” as we can to make our time culturally rich and enjoyable.
The second image of the ginormous bags is a display of intercultural generosity. Kyle, a recent past Dragons West Africa Semester student, wanted to give back some of the terranga (a Wolof word roughly translating to generosity) back to his homestay families in The Gambia and sent his mom, Erlene, on her trip with two 50 pound bags of gifts for them. We love having parents of past Dragons students join us, especially in the very countries where their children traveled with us. On the Music & Mysticism program, we are fortunate to have two parents of past students.
Wishing this crew of travelers a safe, educational, and fun adventure in the 12 days to come!
