“Sue Seday” that means hello in Khmer. We are currently half way through our Cambodian homestay. I am feeling like I am immersing myself in the culture. I feel positive, relaxed and calm. I am living with a grandmother named Sim. My host grandma wakes me up around 6:30am. I then write a small journal and goals for the day. For example 1. Listening 2. Starting a conversation 3. learn something new etc…. I then go down stairs and look across the shining water from the sun. I see cows that graze on the banks. I slowly get ready for the day while my host grandmother cooks the food. I am going to miss the fantastic food. The homestay also has given me the opportunity to reflect on life and who I want to become in life. I will definitely try to come visit this magical place in the future. 🙂
