Hi everyone! My name is Esteban. I’m currently a senior at Milton and a life-long Bostonian. My parents both emigrated from Colombia to the United States over twenty years ago, so I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I’m really excited to be traveling to the Middle East for the first time!
At Milton, my academic passions lie in Classics and in Government/International Relations, and I’m most likely going to be double majoring in both next year. I love participating in the performing arts outside of school, acting in plays and musicals (I was Farquaad in Shrek the Musical last year!) and singing with the Chamber Singers on campus. I’m also involved with culture clubs, political groups, and Milton’s current events newspaper. In my spare time, I love cooking, both savory and sweet, and volunteering.
I’m eager to jump into Jordan and experience the Middle East for the first time ever. Though I’m going in never having spoken a word of Arabic in my life, I’m excited to get lost and confused in the streets of Amman and in the Wadi Rum. I know the homestay in the desert will be a life-changing experience for me, alongside meeting NGOs in the city. Trying the dabke will also be a lot of fun, even if I’ll screw it up badly.
I’m already looking forward to the long-plane ride to Amman and getting to meet you all!
